Our Mission

Open to Blue Ridge CTC students and faculty of any year that meet reading and writing standards for English class enrollment, our mission is to give the opportunity to network with other creative students to share critiques, writing opportunities, resource recommendations, and provide exposure to accomplished authors.


When

The first Wednesday of the month from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon and the fourth Tuesday of each month from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. during the Spring 2008 Semester.
The next five meetings are scheduled as follows:

  • Wednesday, February 6th from 11-12 in A01
  • Tuesday, February 26th from 1-2 in B10
  • Wednesday, March 5th from 11-12 in B20
  • Tuesday, March 25th from 1-2 in A01
  • Tuesday, April 22 from 1-2 in A01

  • Where We Meet

    Normally we meet in Room A01 near the building's front entrance, but sometimes the college needs their conference room. So, we will be in B10 on February 26th and in B20 on March 3rd.


    What to Bring

    Bring up to ten pages (doubled spaced) of your polished prose, poetry, and fiction for reading and review.

    We encourage you to attend the meetings regardless if you have something to share or not. Your view of the works that are presented is just as valuable.

    Deidre Morrison

    Faculty Member and Founder

    Ms. Deidre Morrison encourages us to bring out our best. Her keen eye keeps our grammar and punctuation in check, and her literary guidance inspires the imagination.     Sandra Baker

    Faculty Member (2006-7 Student Member) and Founder

    Sandra Baker takes great pleasure and satisfaction in writing, and she hopes that by sharing, some form of the same will be extended to her fellow members. She brings to the group her knowledge of the publishing industry, writing resources, and writers group experience. Her favorite genre is Fantasy.     Writers Group President

    Kelly Koening is a student working on her A.A.S. in Liberal Arts and Occupational Development. In her spare time, she writes mostly prose poems, personal memoirs, and true stories based on her life experiences. "Deidre Morrison is a terrific advisor to me, a critiquer of my English papers, and has been a major support system in my role as a student at Blue Ridge CTC."
